Developing offenses for your team is probably the most visible part of a coach’s job. After all, the object of the game is to put the ball in the basket. It is a vehicle that coaches use, not only to score, but to include players in their team concept, give them value and affect their self image.
In a zone defense players are responsible for guarding an area (zone) of the court. This is an alternative to man to man defense where players are responsible for guarding a specific player on the opposing team. Good zones can allow you to rotate less skilled or athletic players.
